EA Exam Pattern:

There are 3 comprehensive parts to the SEE exam which includes –

1) Individuals

2) Businesses

3) Representations, Practices and Procedures.

Each part consists of 100 MCQs, and there are no case studies, simulations, or essays. Each part of the exam is allotted with a time duration of 3.5 hours with a 15-minute break after completing half of the section, i.e., 50 MCQs. Every EA aspirant needs to pass all the 3 parts of the SEE exam to become an Enrolled Agent within a period of 2 years. Candidates have 2 attempts to pass each part of the exam within a testing window, which is typically 90 days long. If a candidate fails a part of the exam, they must wait at least 30 days before they can retake the exam.

Eligibility:

  • EAs doesn’t require any prior qualifications. Students, 18 years of age with basic understanding of accounting and the subjects related to tax matters, are eligible to sit for the exam.
  • Every candidate must obtain a Tax identification Number (PTIN) before pursuing the EA exam. To generate PTIN, one must need to have a passport.
